About Washington-Wilkes Animal Shelter

Our mission is to provide temporary shelter, nutritious food, medical attention, and comfort to abandoned, neglected, injured, and homeless animals brought to our shelter. We work to reunite lost pets with their families whenever possible and find loving new homes when they cannot return home. We are also committed to educating our community about responsible pet ownership and humane animal care to help reduce pet overpopulation and improve animal welfare. We welcome dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, and other small animals regardless of age, breed, or condition.

Washington-Wilkes Animal Shelter is an open admission shelter operating under the regulations of the Georgia Department of Agriculture. Washington-Wilkes Animal Shelter is funded by annual appropriations from the City of Washington and Wilkes County Board of Commissioners. Additional funds are received through grants and donations from the Washington Wilkes Humane Shelter Association. The Washington Wilkes Humane Shelter Association is a registered 501(c)3.
